Drawing inspiration from where the greatest film scores come to life is essential to craft an exceptional film scoring tool. London's AIR Studios, established by the legendary Sir George Martin—affectionately known as the "Fifth Beatle"—stands as a beacon in the world of music production. For years, AIR’s Lyndhurst Hall has been the go-to choice for Hollywood directors, where iconic scores for blockbusters like Lord of the Rings, Interstellar, Justice League, Harry Potter, and Pirates of the Caribbean have been brought to life. 

The Albion ONE orchestra was recorded by award-winning engineers, utilising world-class equipment: priceless ribbon and valve microphones, Neve Montserrat preamps, the world’s largest 88R Neve console, and pristine 2” tape—all before being converted with top-tier Prism AD converters at 96k. Every detail was thoughtfully perfected, ensuring this Collection matches the excellence and dedication of the finest film scores.

109 piece orchestra

The original concept of Albion was straightforward—it aimed to provide everything you need to score a film in one complete product. Spitfire Audio assembled 109 of London’s finest musicians, regularly performing in Oscar-winning film score sessions and major global concert events. These talented players were recorded performing a variety of techniques, including short notes, long notes, tremolos, pizzicatos, and more. Each method was captured across a range of notes and by section (Brass Low, Mid, and High; Woods High and Low; Strings), offering you the flexibility to programme and perform your orchestral compositions with complete control.

Legatos and mic positions

Albion ONE includes Spitfire Audio’s renowned legato articulations, which blend adjoining samples to deliver exceptional musicality, alongside runs that trigger the recording of a section performing phrases. 

For microphone positions, you have four choices (close, tree, outriggers, and ambient) to match the style and scale of your music. Additionally, a popular ‘ostinatum’ designer is included, enabling the swift creation of dynamic, tense, or action-packed rhythmic passages.

Darwin Percussion Ensemble

When it comes to drums, most film scores benefit from a strong rhythmic foundation. From subtle undertones to powerful, dramatic hits, Albion ONE provides everything you need to build your score on a solid base. Recorded at AIR Studios’ Lyndhurst Hall, Spitfire Audio assembled some of London’s largest drums, including hi sticks, low taikos, toms, and the newly added Easter Island hits. Both section and solo recordings capture the essence of blockbuster-style percussion, enhanced with a touch of cinematic flair. All these samples are accessible through the Kickstart engine—an intuitive interface that makes it easy to map and perform drums within your chosen DAW.

Brunel Loops

In addition to single hits recorded at AIR Studios, Spitfire Audio has captured hundreds of raw and manipulated loops from original sessions at their studio, featuring the renowned percussionist Paul Clarvis (Spectre, The Dark Knight, Harry Potter, Star Wars). Brunel Loops is a module built on the exceptionally versatile eDNA engine—a perfect tool for transforming your music. It allows you to warp, sequence, affect, and blend two input sources in perfect sync, offering endless possibilities for crafting unique loops that truly reflect your sound.

Stephenson's Steam Band

With the latest update to Albion ONE, you’ll find 100 new presets for Stephenson’s Steam Band, created by Spitfire Audio founders and composers Christian Henson and Paul Thomson.

The recorded orchestra material has been pushed to its absolute limits—every imaginable effect has been applied. It has been stretched, compressed, and manipulated using everything from priceless vintage equipment to humble guitar pedals. Like Brunel Loops, this library is housed within the highly versatile eDNA engine, making Stephenson’s Steam Band a dynamic, limitless orchestral-synth tool unlike any other. Its user-friendly interface ensures it will quickly become your go-to for creating pads and effects that seamlessly blend orchestral and electronic elements.
